How does fever help fight infection? & What are complications of a fever?

A fever helps
to fight infection by eliciting an immune
response in the body. And it kind of helps your
white blood cell counts, which help fight infection. So it kind of draws
your immune response to the source of infection
and elicits that response. Complications of
a fever can range anywhere from seizures,
which can happen more in the younger population,
to organ failure in higher population. There are multiple
medications we can use to prevent these complications. Typically, the younger
age group is more at risk for the
complications of fevers. More, it’s the extremes
of ages that are at risk.
